Thai Massage Practitioner Diploma course
Successful completion of our Thai massage therapy course qualifies & insures you to earn a living as a Thai massage practitioner.
The course teaches traditional techniques
which have been practised for over one thousand years and
are based on yogic principles. Like Tui Na, Thai massage therapy
is concerned with the intrinsic energies and their balance. Unlike
the Chinese system, Thai massage lacks a sophisticated theoretical
background.
Maria Mercati will also teach the location and function of 20
main ENERGY points. The knowledge of meridians and acupoints
makes the use of Thai massage more therapy oriented.
Her courses are specifically structured to include energy channels
and their main energy points so as to make them highly relevant
to the techniques being taught. Being able to accurately locate
the energy channels and their specific energy-points, feeling and
locating pathological changes in the underlying tissues is an essential
for the use of Thai massage as a therapy to treat musculo-skeletal
problems rather than just a wellness massage..

What previous students
say
All the pressing techniques and manipulations of Thai massage therapy and their variations
are taught. Great stress is placed on the use of body weight and
correct positioning of the practitioner's body. These include spinal
manipulations, shoulder and hip manipulations and massaging using
feet and bodyweight. Many of these are not shown in the book
and video. 150 techniques are taught and incorporated into a flowing, whole body, massage therapy routine.
Those
seeking to become expert practitioners, able to exploit
the healing potential of Thai massage to the full, will require
a sound understanding of the musculo-skeletal system and its biodynamics.
Thai massage therapy is a wonderfully
flowing sequence of gentle controlled stretches interspersed
with pressure applied to various parts of the clothed body. It teaches
the subtle and complex interactions between the giver and
receiver which are so important in Thai massage therapy at all levels.
All advanced joint manipulation techniques
are taught safely under careful supervision and their use
in treating many musculo-skeletal problems and sports injuries are
demonstrated and explained.
Our Thai massage course examines the mechanics of the process, enabling
you to treat with confidence many sports injuries and conditions
that result in chronic pain.
What a student said about this Thai Massage course
"Having attended courses in Bangkok and Chaing Mai, I was
able to compare the benefits of your individual style with the styles
in Thailand. Your course was most certainly more holistic, creative
and informative compared to the rigid styles in Thailand.
I learnt how to tailor make a massage session to suit the individual I was working with, rather than use a rigid routine on every individual. This helps me to enjoy giving the massage even more and thus, helping people even more. Your unique style, which combines the northern and southern thai massage styles along with some Tuina as well, is uncomparably inspiring. I learnt that as every individual is unique, every massage must be individual as well.
On the course we learnt so many techniques that I could spend two hours just on a clients legs! As I tailor make yoga sessions for students, this course has helped me a great deal to incorporate massage techniques in order to help my students even further." Sonali Alim
What is the difference between Thai massage & Western Sports Massage?
Most
sports injuries involve damage to muscle fibres, myofascia or tendons
and they are commonly caused by overuse of muscles that are not
functionally balanced with other muscles in their group and with
their antagonists.
Thai massage enables every individual muscle to assume its normal
relaxed length when not contracting.
When injury does occur the controlled stretches and manipulations
in Thai massage have an unrivalled ability to speed healing and
restore pain-free function compared with Western Sports Massage.
Sports Thai Massage provides maintenance that muscles need, improves
performance by reducing the risk of injury for athletes and dancers
during their training. This Thai massage course will teach the aspiring
practitioner everything necessary to become
a competent and advanced therapist in the discipline.
What is the difference between Thai massage and Tui Na?
Thai massage is performed on the floor on the clothed body with the recipient lying or sitting and requires no special equipment other than a thick blanket. Tui Na is done on a massage couch or with the patient seated on an ordinary chair.
Thai massage is rather like applied yoga with many large-scale joint manipulations that stretch muscles gently and very effectively and like Tui Na releases powerful healing forces that ease pain and stress. Tui Na uses a wide variety of soft tissue techniques to deeply stimulate the meridians and acupoints together with powerful joint manipulations.
Thai massage like Tui Na, is concerned with balancing the energies
of the body, mind and spirit.
Thai Massage
- The Thai practitioner uses over 150 techniques to stimulate
energy flow in the channels which are called SEN. However, both
Chinese and Indian influences are apparent in Thai massage, working
as they do on the healing energy lines of the body.
- The exquisite stretches eliminate tension, improve flexibility,
enhance sports performance and maintain a pain-free healthy body.
- Thai massage is performed on the floor on the clothed body and
requires no special equipment other than a thick blanket. It provides
practitioners with an effectively therapeutic tool to add to their
repertoire.
- Thai massage is designed to stretch every accessible muscle
a little more than it normally would under the action of strongly
contracting antagonistic muscles.
- Thai massage complements every other type of massotherapy,
reaching
those parts of the body that others do not reach !
